For this session, I taught online as I only had a couple of hours between childcare on Monday afternoons. The main aim is to ask the group to generate a series of images individually, through their interpretation of the object presented.
The object is an ‘attenuator’ module for eurorack modular synthesizers. The group has a set of rules to follow which reflected the function of this particular module; reduction in information. The rules were as follows:
- In 30 words, please write down what you think this module does.
- What goes in?
- How are things internally processed?
- What comes out?
- Doesn’t have to be literal, can be fantastical and imaginative!
2. Now you roughly have your 30 words, let’s try and mimic the function of an attenuator. Take those 30 words and remove any verbs.
